Privacy Policy
This explains what CONEWER collects when you use CONEWER Wi-Fi, this website and the CONEWER app, why we need it, who can see it and how long we keep it. We collect only what we need to sell you Wi-Fi hours and get you online.
The rules for using the service are in our Terms of Service.
Who we are
CONEWER is a Wi-Fi service in the Philippines, run by Sagitta Technologies. We decide how your information is used and are responsible for it under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act 10173).
CONEWER Wi-Fi hotspots are installed at partner stores. The store owner provides the place and power; CONEWER runs the Wi-Fi service, your account and payments.
What we collect
Your account
Your mobile number and password (stored only as a secure hash, never readable). Optionally your name, a profile picture (a character you pick or a photo you upload) and your app settings.
Wi-Fi sessions
When a device goes online: its Wi-Fi MAC address, the local IP address the hotspot gives it, the device type (from the browser or app), which hotspot, start and end times, and how much data it used. Any name you give a device.
Payments
Top-up amount, method (GCash, Maya, QR Ph or card), status, time and the payment reference. Payments are processed by PayMongo: we never see or store your card number, e-wallet login or PIN.
Hours and transfers
Your balance and its history: top-ups, hours used, refunds, and hours you send to or receive from other numbers.
Help and Telegram
If you link Telegram or message @conewer_help_bot: your Telegram user ID, and the phone number Telegram shares when you choose to share it (to confirm your account, for example to reset a password). Messages you send to support, so we can answer them.
Website and server logs
Like most websites, our server records requests (IP address, time, page, browser type) to keep the service running and secure. The site uses one sign-in cookie; no advertising or tracking cookies.
What we don't collect
- Your location. The Wi-Fi map can show where you are, but your location stays on your phone and is never sent to us.
- Camera pictures. Scanning a friend's QR code happens on your phone; nothing is saved or sent.
- What you do online. We don't record the websites or apps you use, or the content of your traffic. We only count the amount of data.
- Your contacts, SMS or call logs. The app never asks for them.
- Advertising IDs. There are no ads in CONEWER and no ad or analytics trackers.
How we use it
- To create your account, sign you in and help you recover it.
- To get your device online, time your session and stop it when your hours run out.
- To credit top-ups, keep your balance and history, return unused hours, and send hours you transfer.
- To send the alerts you turn on (for example low-time reminders on Telegram) and to answer your support messages.
- To pay partner stores their share, keep accounting records, and prevent fraud and abuse of the network.
We do this because it's needed to provide the service you signed up for, to meet our legal and accounting duties, and for our legitimate interest in keeping the network safe. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
- Account details: while your account is open. When you delete it, see Delete your account.
- Wi-Fi session details (MAC address, IP address, data used): up to 90 days after the session ends, then deleted.
- Payment and balance records: as long as tax and accounting law requires. After you delete your account they are kept without your name or number.
- Support messages: until your question is solved, and no longer than one year.
- Server logs: a few weeks.
Your rights
Under the Data Privacy Act you can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or object to how we use it. You can change your name, picture and settings yourself in the app (Profile), and delete your account at any time.
If you think we have mishandled your information, contact us first. You can also complain to the National Privacy Commission (privacy.gov.ph).
Security
Everything between your phone and CONEWER travels encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Access to customer data is limited to the people who run the service. No system is perfectly secure, but we take care to protect your information and will tell you and the National Privacy Commission if a breach puts you at risk.
Children
CONEWER accounts are meant for people 18 and over, who can pay with an e-wallet or bank app. We don't knowingly create accounts for children. If you think a child has an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. For important changes we'll also tell you in the app.
